Sydney

So Manly has 'Harbour Side' where the ferries come in and Open ocean side.

Papi Chulo is our favourite, favourite (we had Ben's 40th there). http://merivale.com.au/papichulo
Argentinian BBQ, right on the water - Harbour side

Manly Wine - on the open ocean side
especially for breakfast and lunch. Elegant, small, overlooking the ocean.

Hugos - just near Papi
Foods ok (pizza etc) but atmosphere's good.

Manly Wharf bar
Also on the harbour near papi. Good lunch spot! Beautiful views.

The Rooftop bar at New Brighton Hotel for lunch

Quieter restaurant:
Insitu - quaint, sometimes have live music

The Rocks.
How fancy did he want to go?
Super chi-chi
Rockpool est. 1989
Must have the oysters!

Pony
Aussie BBQ tapas! Has a nice outdoor bit

The Cut Bar & Grill - MEAT, cool underground taverna style
Fancy steak house

Our favourite:
Sailors Thai - Sydney simply has the best thai outside of Thailand. And this is one of the best. David Thompson who will be opening soon in Singapore.
Sailors Thai is down stairs, fine dining, but we love upstairs, Sailors Thai Canteen. More street food style, shared tables, balcony tables etc.

Also at Circular Quay if he's looking to take work people out: CafĂ© Sydney is an institution with arguably the best view in town.

Inexpensive but lovely vibe:
Young Alfred's
Great pizza!

Also near Circular Quay, cosy lovely tapas - Tapa Vino
